Abstract
This chapter divides into two parts. The first part uses a number of lenses to look at the idea of the Metaverse, and consider from a holistic point of view what needs to be done to encourage the development of a powerful, ubiquitous Metaverse or Multiverse environment, and what its impact on society might be. Two lenses are considered: the ReLive 2011 Delphi Study, and Marshall McLuhan’s Tetrad. The second part of the chapter presents 7 different future scenarios, each examining a possible way in which the Metaverse might develop – for good or ill.
